RED BOX FAQ

What is a red box?
A red Box is a device that lets you get free (or allmost free) phone
calls from a Pay Phone.
Step 1 in making a red box
Go buy one of those Hallmark cards that let you record a
short greating (audio) on them and when you press a button, play it back.
Step 2 in making a red box
Get QUARTER.VOC (found in MANY places around the net, do a archie
-r quarter.zip to find it.. And, because you are from AOL, {NO FTP} use
FTPMAIL to get it..)
Step 3 in making a red box
Get a GOOD sound card. Like a Sound Blaster etc.. Play QUARTER.VOC
and record it on the hallmark card you got in stage 1. (Try to not have
ANY interference\back ground noises)
There.. you have one of a few kinds of Red Box's. (There is the radio
shack dialer and some other one, but this is the easist)
How to use your Red box
Goto a pay phone(MAKE SURE you have your Red 'box') and pick up the
phone. Now, place the speaker of the hallmark card close to the part of
the phone you talk into. It should now think you droped a quarter into
the phone.
If last Step doesn't work, how to use your Red box
Insert a nickel into the phone coin box and play the card back (Like
in step 1A). It should work now.
If it doesn't work, then start from scratch..
